What is AIFF to MIDI conversion?

AIFF files go in, clean editable MIDI comes out. The whole pipeline — decoding, note detection, editing and export — runs locally in your browser tab, so your audio never touches a server.

Audio files store pressure waves; MIDI stores musical instructions — which note, when, how hard, how long. Conversion means listening through the recording note by note and writing down those instructions. The result is not a sound but a score: something you can transpose, slow down, re-voice, or hand to an instrument that never misses.

Getting the cleanest transcription

Start from the cleanest source you have: solo instruments transcribe far better than dense mixes. Trim long silent passages, avoid heavy reverb, and if the result feels crowded, raise note sensitivity until only the line you actually want remains — then clean up the rest by hand on the roll.

How it works

  1. 1

    Upload your aiff file

Drag a file onto the workbench or pick one from your device. Decoding happens on the spot — nothing is transmitted.

  2. 2

    Preview and fine-tune

Detected notes land on a piano roll. Play them back, nudge pitch or timing, delete a stray note, adjust sensitivity and re-detect.

  3. 3

    Download MIDI or sheet music

Export a standard MIDI file for your DAW, or MusicXML for notation software. Either way, the file is written locally and saved straight to your device.

Formats & limits

Input: AIFF plus all common audio containers (MP3, WAV, AIFF, M4A/AAC, OGG, FLAC) and the audio track of MP4/MOV/WebM video. Maximum 50 MB per file. Output: standard MIDI File (SMF, format 1), MusicXML, or MP3 when re-rendering.

Highlights

See every detected note on a zoomable roll before you commit to anything.

Tunable detection

Sensitivity and note-splitting controls let you trade between a sparse, confident melody and a dense full transcription.

MIDI & sheet music export

One click each for a DAW-ready .mid and a notation-ready MusicXML.

For monophonic sources — a single voice or instrument — expect near-perfect pitch and timing on clean recordings. Dense polyphonic mixes are harder; the model still finds most lead lines, and the piano roll makes manual cleanup quick.

Yes. Move, stretch, transpose or delete notes right on the built-in piano roll, then export the edited version.

Entirely inside your browser tab. The transcription model is downloaded to your device once and runs locally; closing the tab leaves nothing behind on any server.

Yes — switch the workbench to Batch mode and queue as many files as you like; each one converts independently.
